The Right to be Wrong

Copyright 2009 by Stan C. Countz

A summer's eve, I weep as I remember
I am alone, haunted by the shadows of memories and ghosts
But she’s the one I dream about the most
It’s enough to drive a heathen to his knees
Why did she have to leave? Who am I tryin’ to please?
Maybe I just need some time to grieve…

Built mile high fences, gotta keep up my defenses
I hate to break the news; ain’t got a lot to lose
I done paid my dues; gotta case of the break my heart blues
Why am I flyin’ blind? I need to get her off my mind
If I only knew what I’m tryin’ to find…
Maybe I could have seen the signs

Don't speak of love, ‘cuz I've got nothin’ much to offer
It's somethin’ I know nothin’ of
I can't give you a reason for feelin’s that’ve died
Maybe I never should have even tried
Why should I be crucified? Wish I could run away and hide

It’s up to me to decide which side I’m on
But do I have the right to be wrong?
Wish I could mend my own heart…
Is this the end or the start
Of a brand new song?

I have my dreams and my reflections to hold on to
Got a happy avatar, play a snappy lead guitar
I just pray things won’t stay the way they are
They see me the way I want them to see me
What do I know? What do I believe?
Why did she go? Why did she decide to leave?
Why do I need to know?

I can't give you a reason for feelin’s that’ve died
Maybe I never should have even tried
I know that He was crucified; Now I believe I know why
It was for me He chose to die…

It’s up to me to decide which side I’m on
But do I have the right to be wrong?
Wish I could mend my own heart…
Is this the end or the start
Of a brand new song?

LOVE IS MORE THAN JUST INTERCOURSE

by Stan C. Countz

VERSE 1

I’ll wait for the day you are ready
I’ll watch and pray and hold steady
Come what may, I’ll stay the course
I’ll live each day with no remorse
‘Cuz love is more than just intercourse

VERSE 2
No matter which way we may be heading
I’ll wait for the day of our wedding
Don’t wanna take the day by force
Or put the cart before the horse
‘Cuz love is more than just intercourse

CHORUS

It’s not just two bodies intertwined
It’s a meeting of two minds
They say that love is blind, but I believe
It’s the tie that binds us all together
It’s not just in our minds -- it’s forever
‘Cuz love is so much more
Than just intercourse
Love is so much more
Than just intercourse

OUTRO

I don’t wanna sound small-minded or petty
I may be blinded but are we really ready?
Even if we may have the perfect setting…
We should wait ‘til the day of our wedding
Leopards never change their spots
And rivers rarely change their course (Those who)
Live in glass houses shouldn’t throw rocks
Or put the cart before the horse
‘Çuz love is so much more
Than just intercourse

BETWEEN THE THIEVES

by Stan Countz

CHORUS

He hung there on that cursed tree
High on that hill between the thieves
He paid the price for you and me
That we might be set free for all eternity

VERSE 1

One cursed his name and laughed
The other was ashamed and asked
If He would remember him when
He came into His kingdom

VERSE 2

He had no time to be baptized
The King was a willing sacrifice
“This day you’ll be with me in paradise.”
He said as He gave up His life

CHORUS
He hung there on that cursed tree
High on that hill between the thieves
He paid the price for you and me
That we might be set free for all eternity

OUTRO
Which of the two are you?
The one who cursed the son
Or the one who believed?
I think you know what to do
Go and show them the truth
So they won’t be deceived
He proved His love for you and me
When He hung there on that curse tree
He chose to do His father’s will
High on that hill between the thieves
